Case Mods
Super Hornet is an effort to design and build a powerful watercooled gaming pc in a small form factor case.
The project started off w/ 2 identical Hornet cases from Monarch Systems. One of the case was cut in half and dedicated for housing the power supply, water cooling, hard drive, and optical. This left the top portion of the case show off PC components.
Hinges were integrated to all panels, which allowed them to swing open and resembles wings. The Hornet, window, and honeycomb were all cut by hand using a dremel.
The entire case was painted with Candy Yellow paint. If you look closely, you can see ghost honey comb in the paint.
Specs:
Processor: AMD FX-60
Motherboard: EVGA Nforce 4 SLI mATX
Case: (2) Monarch Hornet SFF
Power Supply: Fortron Source
Cooling: Danger Den TDX and (2) 7800 GT Waterblock
Memory: Corsair XPERT DDR w/ LED Readout
Graphics: (2) EVGA 7800 GT in SLI

Case Fabrication
Phase III is the name of this project. This project is more of a build rather than a mod as I am fabricating everything but the actual computer hardware.
This design is a modified cube design. Modified in that it will not have 3 equal dimensions. This case I will use for testing new hardware and working out overclocking parameters. It is for these reasons that the case is designed to be easy to access all parts ‘while the PC is in operation’. Also, this design will allow the features of a test bench setup and still allow an operating mode that is cool and quiet.
In all photos the system remains in operating mode.
I look forward to hanging out here and digging into what I learn here.
