I made this case for my Mom. After doing various home improvement projects around the house, I had accumulated a lot of left over parts. So I thought I could make a case mod out of them, and a unique mother’s day present. So I set out to make her computer look like part of the house, complete with wall texture, molding strips, and simulated hardwood flooring.

For the window, I etched a piece of plexi in a cross-stitching pattern and hung it on the side like a framed picture. The CD Rom drive is stealthed behind the front top moulding piece, which is held on to the CD tray with magnets. The top features a heat register with 2 80mm fans for exhaust. They are controlled by a modded rheostat connected to the heat register’s lever. The mouse can be stowed away in the mouse hole located in the front of the case.

The front wall switch is actually a momentary toggle masquerading as a light switch, and it powers the computer up. I also used one of the screw holes in the wall plate for the pwr led, and the other for the reset switch.

The back of the case was extended 3 inches so that I could route the cables in household fashion. I wired up the RJ-45 wall outlet to a short network cable that plugs into the motherboard,. The power supply gets is juice through a standard wall outlet, only in reverse. I made up a double-ended power cord and permanently glued one end into the case’s outlet (wouldn’t want to accidentally unplug the hot end!) All other cables are routed through a plastic cable grommet.
