This is my first attempt at a silent (or very quiet) computer. It all started with the Antec P180b case, which is designed for quiet computing. The specs of the computer are as followed:

Intel Q6600 2.4ghz CPU undervolted 1.09v CPU
Gigabyte GA-P35 LGA 775 motherboard
EVGA 8800gt 512mb Video Card
G.Skill 4GB DDR2-800 memory
WD 400GB hard drive
X-Fi Xtrememusic sound card

the aftermarket cooling includes:

Scythe Ninja fanless CPU heatsink
Arctic Cooling S1 rev. 2 fanless GPU heatsink
Masscool DDR-004 memory heatsink
SilenX IXN-40C fanless northbridge heatsink
Scythe Flex 800 120mm fan (800rpm)
Arctic Cooling 120mm PWM fan (variable)
SilenX Luxurae hard drive silencer

So far the cooling is colding up to the 90ºF+ Boston summer, so I’m pretty optimistic about the 3 fan setup. The P180b has been lightly modded, including the removal of all 3.5” drive cages and the nibbling out of the front fan cage. The solo hard drive in the computer is now enclosed in a hard drive silencer and moved up to the 5.25” bay.
