Must Kill Teddy Bears starty oddly enough as a crazy sketch by my friend Brandon on a coffee shop napkin. He is a talented artist and inspiration struck him he took the opportunity to jot it down. Eventually This drawing became a large print. Just so happened at the time he wanted me to build him a computer. I told him that we should take that print and make a whole themed case with it. He agreed and we sat down and worked out the design and all the details of the mod.
The Case we started with was a clear Logisys acrylic ATX case. We took our design and had it cut on a vinyl plotter in reverse. applied it to the back side of the case and I painted it with black vinyl dye. Leaving areas for little effects like the window with the teddy bear on the drive bay and the artwork on the sides. The side with the Teddy bear with the gun is a decal and the other side, which is a scaled version of the original print is printed on translucent material so it can be back lit. The top is a vinyl printed skin that is applied to the top surface of the case. The bricks around the front and sides of the case are covered with frosted vinyl on the insides so as to be translucent but not completely see through. This also helps them to catch the extensive lighting. The fan grills are also custom made and cut out on the engraving machine here at work.
Lighting on this thing is probably the most notable. With the psychotic them we use a light controller that could give us nice ambient effect or full on murder house flashing red an blue police lights and strobes. With the controller we are able to achieve 100’s of different color combo’s All in all it was a great collaboration and Brandon thoroughly enjoys his case to this day.
