Basically I just cut a square hole measuring to the 1/2 mm so the drive would fit nice and snug… then epoxied in place. thought about doing drive mounts but at the time my fingers were torn up enough from doing the mesh on the front. :)

How did you mount the drive

How did you mount the drive sideways in that case since the drive bays are horizontal?

Nice work.

Thanks to all those who voted for me in the last round! I really did not think I would win that one. I guess this case is better than I think. I also think I am my worst critic.

I love it! Well done!

This is the 5th mod for this case and is beyond changing at this point. I started off with a $30 case from a local B&M and completely removed the face. I cut an 8-inch PVC pipe and fit it to the top with epoxy and bondoed the edges for the top of the case.
For the sides I had to fill in the indented “grips” with bondo to make smooth and on one panel I had to fill mesh material in two locations. I cut the hole for the fan on one panel and cut a piece of acrylic to fill it in to look like the panel in portal.
I made the front completely out of MDF. I used a small piece of PVC pipe for the button hole and epoxied the switch and painted acrylic in place. For the middle I again used MDF and used a bastard file to round out the edges. I stealthed the optical drive with a piece of painted acrylic and surrounded it with modder’s mesh and backed it with vinyl screen to reduce dust intake.
The keyboard is from Dell and was completely disassembled to paint corresponding keys from the game. Lettering was done on a laser printer with transparent labels and cut with a razor. I left a few flaws in the key’s paint to reflect some use and age.
The mouse was painted white and overlaied with parafilm and the design was cut then painted orange.
All logos and labels were made in illustrator from scratch.

Please see the worklog to appreciate where this case came from.
